Tips for Buying Real Estate

When buying a home in any area of Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Norfolk, Suffolk, or Northeast North Carolina, there are many things to consider. To get the process of buying real estate started, get your financing in order.  Talk to a loan officer and get pre-qualified for a mortgage.  Figure out how much you are comfortable paying for a mortgage each month. 

An important part of your real estate experience will be having an experienced agent on your side. Find a qualilfied real estate professional.

Next you will need to decide what you are looking for in a property.  When considering which property to buy, there are many things you need to take into consideration. 

• First, will this be your home or an investment property?
• If the property is to be a home-how many bedrooms and bathrooms do you need?
• If the property is going to be your home, how long do you plan to live in it? Does it meet all of your needs?  Is the overall size big enough for your current needs?  Location, location, location-is it in an area convenient to your work, schools, church, etc?
• Decide what extras you would like to have.  Such as pool, big yard, custom features, etc.

When you narrow your choices to a few properties visit them when the neighborhood is active (evenings, weekends).
